Pantothenic Acid (60 Capsules)
Vitamin B5 for the maintenance of good health • Helps the body to metabolize carbohydrates, fats and proteins • Aids in tissue formation • Provides 500 mg of pantothenic acid per daily dose Pantothenic acid is a B vitamin that helps to metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Pantothenic acid is primarily found in the liver, kidney, and heart.1 It is essential for the formation of coenzyme-A (CoA) and acyl carrier protein (ACP), two compounds that donate acyl groups.1 As acyl group metabolism is required for the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, the central nervous system also requires a consistent level of the vitamin.1 CoA is a cofactor for approximately four percent of enzymes in humans, and its acetyl-CoA form is especially important for several metabolic reactions.1 It is required for incorporating fatty acids into membrane phospholipids and triglycerides, and is used to generate energy in the Krebs cycle.1 Acetyl-CoA and ACP also contribute to the synthesis of fatty acids.1 Recent research indicates that pantothenic acid helps to maintain the skin’s natural barrier by promoting the growth of skin cells via the production of keratinocyte growth factors.2 Pantothenic acid further maintains skin health by decreasing water loss through the epidermal layer of the skin.3 References
