Krill-plex is derived from Antarctic krill, a zooplanktonic crustacean offering a naturally unique balance of omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids, and antioxidants, including astaxanthin. Krill oil is an omegaphospholipid complex rich in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Carefully preserved through a distinct cold extraction process, this novel structure consists of EPA and DHA as two fatty acid side chains on the phospholipid molecule. Furthermore, an astaxanthin ester is attached to the EPA, providing a tightly bound molecule that allows for the direct delivery of these nutrients to the cell nucleus and, most importantly, to the mitochondria. The phospholipid fatty acid profile closely resembles that of human brain phospholipids, enabling it to easily cross the blood-brain barrier. Krill oil offers an ideal balance of essential fatty acids for the maintenance of good health. This unique and highly bioavailable complex provides particular support for joint comfort and a healthy inflammatory balance. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study suggests that krill oil promotes joint comfort and reduces C-reactive protein levels in the blood, a clinical marker of inflammation. In addition, the results showed statistically significant support for joint flexibility and function.
